The East Main Street Corridor (East Main Street/Rt. 250) is buzzing with activity and home to some great businesses that should be on every visitors must-see list when they come to town! This unique corridor, recently dubbed “Rockfish Gateway,” connects Waynesboro to the entrance of both Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway, an area known as Rockfish Gap. Discover something new when you stop at these three businesses featuring craft beverages, enticing food, and gear for your next outdoor adventure.

Basic City Beer Company / 1010 E. Main St.

Basic City Beer Company makes its home in a former industrial complex that once housed Virginia Metalcrafters. High ceilings, saw-tooth windows and reclaimed pipe and wood tap room tables pay homage to the architecture of the original foundry. A natural spring pumps a million gallons of artesian water for use in the brewery’s beers which are served across one of the largest single-pour zinc bartops in the country!

Basic City added a new venue with a Speakeasy vibe, The Showroom, in the fall of 2020. The Showroom is located in an historic 1800's Farmhouse, originally used as Virgnia Metalcrafter's own Showroom. This 21+ venue has an old-world tavern ambiance layered with a new-world vibe. Enjoy the more rare Basic City Beer Co. beers on draft, wine, cider, craft cocktails, and a Southern approach tasting menu. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating throughout the Basic City "campus." Keep up with Basic City's news and events here.

While you're visiting Basic City Beer Co., be sure to pick up a passport for the Shenandoah Beerwerks Trail, and get your first stamp to begin your craft beer adventure! Get seven more stamps at any of the remaining eighteen breweries on the Trail, and mail it in for a free, commemorative Beerwerks t-shirt.
