If scenic waterways are your passion, come to Downtown Waynesboro where the South River runs right through the city. A favorite destination of fly fisherman, the South River is one of only two urban fisheries in the state. You can also enjoy the river from inside a canoe or kayak. Check out our Waynesboro Water Trail guide below for more information.
The greenway runs 0.88 mile alongside the South River. The greenway begins at the Dominion Shelter in Constitution Park and ends by the Waynesboro YMCA. The second phase of the greenway,
connecting Constitution Park to North Park, is currently under
development, and future phases plan to extend the greenway to Ridgeview
Park, Basic Park, and eventually a series of trails connecting to the
Crozet Tunnel from the old landfill. For more information and updates, visit the Parks & Recreation website.
